breaking down
my05 ppp wagon seemed to loose power today while having a drive. There seemed to be next to nothing from 3000 to 6000 as if the turbo wasnt there. 0 to 60 took 7 seconds. This was for about 30 minutes then worked just as normal. couldnt see owt under the bonet or lights on the dash. Could this be an early indication of something breaking down.
Any thoughts.
Cheers.

I had a FPR fitted the other week and have just noticed that the pipe material used gets really soft when warm. What i noticed was the juberlee clip was loose and i could see fuel was dripping out.
Hope this is the only reason for the loss of power.

He's winding you up mate.
This is a common symptom of any of the following:
- Spark plugs need changing / properly gapping
- Damaged coil pack (less common on newage)
- Air leak somewhere (less common full stop)
- MAF (very uncommon on newage although many Google-happy newbies will suggest it )
In terms of an FPR, I have to ask - why did you fit a replacement?
Was there a problem with the old one? Is the replacement an OEM item or aftermarket?
Because if your wagon's a PPP only and those are the only mods then I wouldn't recommend aftermarket.
If it's an aftermarket FPR and the car hasn't been mapped for or at least checked by a mapper I'd say it's entirely possible your problem stems from that.
In total honesty the standard FPR should easily be up to the job. I'm on an OEM and I'm running 430bhp so if it's a cheap aftermarket job the best thing you can do is throw it away and go back to standard.
HTH.

I fitted a fpr after i fitted a better fuel pump to stop the serges. For some reason the fuel pump just seemed to pour in fuel. 3/4 of a tank was only doing 160 compared to 220 before i fitted the fuel pump. I was told that the original must have failed and there fore using extra juice. I fitted the fpr just to normal settings and fuel economy went back up.
Ive taken the sytec fpr off now and gone back to the original fuel pump.
will see whats its like over the weekend.

The ECU shouldn't use more fuel if you put a more capable pump in. Just because I dump a 290lph pump in my car doesn't mean it'll automatically dump that much into the engine all the time.
To illustrate, I changed my original pump for an HRC 290 and fuel consumption did not change.
However, I did not change the fuel regulator, nor did I get fuel 'surge'.
Any excess will get returned to the tank anyway rather than dumped into the engine!
I double checked with JGM before I fitted mine and was told its fine no map changes required, even for bigger pump.
Whoever told you the previous statement was basing it on guesswork I'd imagine.
You simply can't deduce that from what you've stated here, I'd advise a visit to a specialist or a mapper who can actually plug in and check the car's fuelling to diagnose the problem properly.
However my advise would be if the car has not been mapped for the fpr take it off as if its not setup right your engine could be running lean.
