Default Boost Pressure

Hi Guys I Have a 03 blob sti with 40,000 on the clock, completely standard apart from a stupid Vta bailey dv and a different tailpipe.

I went to fit my cheap auto gauge boost gauge last night as i was curious and like to know these things, how much boost it was making, the car has always pulled hard.

When i put the car in 4th or 5th foot down let the revs build up peak boost seems to be about 3.5-4k but it was making 18psi according to the gauge is this correct seems high for standard, as far as i know the car has not been mapped. Also after hitting peak boost it starts dropping off the further up the revs finishing about 12psi according to the gauge. I have know idea how accurate the gauge is, it used to be spot on when i had my rover 220 turbo.

Any information would would be help full from you more experienced guys, my knowledge of cars is pretty good as i used to be a mechanic but im unsure on this one.

Regards Duncan

Maybe a cat has been removed and it is overboosting?

12/13 would be standard.

when i was under there a few weeks ago changing the gear box oil it appeared to have the standard sti down pipe with both cats, i have a 3inch decat at home but i wont be fitting that until i can afford to have it mapped.

maybe it has been mapped it always pulls very well and runs sweet as a nut, maybe my boost gauge is a psi or so out, i doubt it as its a manual gauge not a lot to go wrong.

if your gauge reads correctly, I'd say it is mapped. The numbers point to the ppp or like, from memory this is what my blob did with ppp.
Standard is max 1 bar(0.9 ish or 12/13 psi as said), with ppp can go to 1.2/1.3 bars in 4th/5th.

You can easily get this mapped higher, I am running mine at around 1.4/1.5 peak for 5 years and no issues

That's what I'm starting to think, should it tail off to neatly 12psi at the end of the Rev range?
