Default EJ20 engine help required

hi all

I have a 97 s/tb froester, it had been standing unused for a while so all 4 brake calipers were stuck which i have now done. When I first got it when driving it would suddenly hold back half way up the rev range. I would be driving along and the suddenly there would be a jolt and the revs would start to fall. If i dipped the clutch it revs but there was no drive. I initially thought it was the brakes causing the juddering, the calipers not releasing and the pressure backing up the servo vacume advance but now I have sorted the brakes the problem still persists.

I am thinking a stuck waste gate or turbo actuator? can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to look next as I am a bit lost and want to keep this forester going

Thanks in advance
Gareth

How long was it stood up ?
Could be something simple like stale fuel in the tank.

Could well have stale fuel in it, so a top up with fresh fuel or a bottle of octane booster will help.
Do you have any warning lights / fault codes showing yet?

When i got the car it was running on fumes so to get it home £50 of straight from the pump went in so not sure it is the fuel that is the problem, I have not got it code read yet. Is there a decent downloadable software that will let me read the codes or is it a specialist job. If it is a job i can do where is the diagnostic socket liable to be I've had a look and cannot see one?

Thanks

Gareth

When driving it today it has been a bit more lumpy than usual, the idle revs are only about 600-800 and at a junction and when i got home the revs dropped so low that it stalled this is adding to my thoughts of vacume/timing issue??????
