Default Stability at speed

Does anyone else find their scoob feels really unstable/unsettledat speed? I've recently had the car at speeds well over 100mph (on privateroads!) for the first time and find an overwhelming lifting sensation, and thecar feels really light - far from planted.

Quite strange really as I've driven other less sporty carsat high speed and have to admit, they felt a lot safer/more planted. GivenSubaru introduced the roof vane spoiler for stability at high speed, I don'treally see what use it's doing. If it is helping, I'd imagine the car to beutterly dangerous without it.

Be interested to hear of other peoples thoughts....

excuse the grammar - copy and paste appears to delete spaces between words!

Have you tried any handling mods?

I put a 24mm RARB on mine and it seems to of helped with the stability issues that you've mentioned

p.s. Where are these private roads in the north-west that you mentioned? I'd like to drive my car on them

in all honestly, I wouldn't know what a 24mm RARB was if it slapped me in the face!
Any links would be great!

It's a 24mm diameter Rear Anti Roll Bar.

LOL

Its an uprated rear anti roll bar, whiteline are a good make.. One of the traders called Indigo on here sell them for around £140 if you have a look in the traders section: https://www.scoobynet.com/trader-ann...-giveaway.html

There are other mods you can do to improve handling, do a search on here

Cheers Paul!

Can anyone vouch for these? Do they make a serious difference? can they be fitted by an amateur, and how much do they cost approx?

Must admit this is not something I've experienced.
I've had an 02STI, 05 STI and hatch sti in treble figures and did not experience stability issues.
Is the geometry OK on the car?

The Prodrive rear wing and front splitter I have on my bugeye were specifically designed to improve stability at speed (so says the sales blurb in the brochure) so it must've been identified as an issue by Prodrive at some point, unless of course its just patter... but they're not known for doing things purely for the sake of it.

I think the geo is ok. It's never had a fast road setup and is still stock. Tyre wear is spot on, on all 4 wheels. I've got no issues at all with the handling apart from high speed. Anything above 130 ish feels like the cars about to take off!

You should check the balance of the wheels. Maybe the alignment is okay, but the litte weights are mismatched.

The bonnet looking like it's about to fly off is my main concern at around that speed :| Scary.

interesting one on the bonnet. I've been on the motorway before and had it pop up onto the catch at 70mph! had to swiftly pull over onto the hard shoulder and open and close it. Not good. I dont think bonnet catches are designed to be used on a weekly basis. I usually check fluid levels weekly, particularly oil. Having said that, even though my engine is forged, it uses little to no oil between services. Much cheaper to replace the bonnet catch than have low oil related issues - that's how i see it anyway!

Had mine up to an indicated 155mph last year and there was no indication of lift, wandering or anything untoward and mine doesn't have the rear vane or large spoiler.

In fact everything was all calm apart from my paranoia regarding the lack of air going into the scoop.

Im not an expert but the first thing I'd be checking would be the geometry and alignment
