Default Inconsistent vibration during breaking

I have an issue with a 09 WRX STI. Under breaking there is occasionally a terrible vibration through the steering wheel. It doesn't happen all the time which is confusing. The pads and disks have been checked and are in good condition and so I'm wondering if anybody has had a similar issue? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

The disks may visually appear to be in good condition but could have excessive runout. Get them checked with a dial gauge to confirm the runout.

Thanks Jason. Also been told that the rotors may be warped...

The rotors are what Americans call brake disks. Warped is another term for too much run out.

I see, thanks. So, if this is the case, new disks I'm guessing...?

Old disks can be skimmed to get them back in line. If you can find someone local. Also if you get the disks skimmed on the car it is even better than new disks as you can account for slight hub run out also which will help prevent future problems. Depending on the competence of the operator that is.

Most people will put new disks on though.
