Default E20G vs Ej205/7 Pistons

Hi,

I am currently rebuilding a EJ20G. I have just been informed the Correct Ej20G Wiseco pistons are on back order and will be at least 1 month!
Can I use Ej205 pistons?
I have all the other parts, just missing the pistons!!

Any info would be great. Thanks

You can use them but not ideal as the EJ205/7 pistons have a different compression height and bowl volume and designed to run with a thin steel head gasket (0.6mm) and a bigger combustion chamber volume of 49cc compared to the EJ20G.

Thanks for the reply. You think I am better off paying a little more and getting the correct RCM pistons? Or should be ok with some off the shelve Ej205 pistons?
Thanks

Fit a set of Mahle's, there the same for all 2.0 engines. It doesn't matter too much as long as the cc in the bowl is 12cc. V1-4 heads are 47cc per head and V5 onwards are 49cc, the headgasket thickness adjusts the CR between them.

Thanks for the info,

I ran some numbers and even with the 1.6mm stock size Head gasket, The Compression ration is around 7.8:1
I plan on skimming a little off the head and block so should be a pretty safe option I guess.

Thanks a lot guys, Will probably order some Mahle's today!
