Default subaru imreza dump valve

My friend has a 07 plate 2.5 wrx impreza and wants a dump valve fitted. He isn't going for the performance mostly the sound and wants a rather noisy one. Which one is best I looked at the hks ssqv but he said it doesn't sound loud enough.

Best? the stock valve, recirculating type. That's why Subaru fit it

If all he wants is sound, at the expense of his engine, and decent running, I'm out of here.

Do a search as to why.

As has been said already, stick with the factory unit. My hawkeye had a Forge DV when I test drove it and although it was quite funny on the test drive, for daily use it would get real annoying really quick.

As much as I agree with your post, that's a stupid argument. Subaru fit all sorts of crap to these cars, hence why we so heavily modify them.

Although VTA may not directly kill engines but they won't help the ecu to run the engine properly. i removed mine off my old car as it started casuing loads of stalling problems, overfuelling etc and this does happen to loads of cars not just Imprezas.

What crap do Subaru put on Impreza (serious question not having a pop at you Fonzey )

OP you could always get him to fit a Electronic Dumpvalve or stick his out of the window and go 'Ptoooooshhh' really loudly

I love these dump valve threads,if your mate wants to fit one he has to buy a good quality part, the turbosmart BOV are good quality also the tial BOV are a quality part as well if i was going to get one it would be from one of those makes.SJ.

They get annoying after about 20 miles lol, they ok when driving hard but seem make car jerky at slow crawling speeds traffic/town etc.
fitted a bailey atmospheric to my 2000 turbo when changed intercooler and realised original didn't fit, will be taking it off.
after a forge recirculating now I hear they the best

I can't understand why some people want their car to be noisy. DV noise, pops and bangs mapped in, comp stall chatter, anti lag, straight through exhausts. Why, what purpose does it serve other than "look at me". Maybe i'm showing my age but it all seems very juvenile to me.

It's been said thousands of times, but I can say it again , running a VTA dump valve along with a MAF setup causes over fuelling in between gear shifts. This in turn affects the performance immediately after you get back on the power, and also can cause long term damage to the engine, which probably won't kill it, but definitely won't help it run as well as it should.

Personally I'd only ever use recirc dump valves, even the dual port ones that supposedly give you the best of both worlds seem dodgy to me.

On a side note, if your mate is solely doing it for the sound, has he considered blanking off the dv and running without one? If the car runs a TD turbo it should be ok to do, and IMO that's a much better sound.
