I've got an STI8 intercooler on my classic and I tried 2 different bonnet undertrays from later imprezas (can't remember which ones now, it was too long ago!) and neither of them fit so I gave up and made my own (sorry for all the pics!)......
Use the standard one off the car as a template....
Got it to fit okay on the car....
You can see the difference between the vent space on the standard undertray......
Compared with the vent size you actually need for the STI8.....
I then re-made the cardboard template I was happy with, out of 18g alluminium.....
Then cut the vent hole out of it etc.....
Checking it all fits with the bonnet shut (the rubber surround is from one of the undertrays that I bought that didn't fit).....
More cardboard to make the actual inner 'scoop' section.....
Some bits of paper to workout where to put the side folds....
Used the top template with the bits of paper added to re-make the template at the bottom. This gave me the angle of the folded bits then.....
New cardboard piece with side folds in place to check if it fits.....
All trimmed down with some little flaps for fixing it into place.....
This gave me another little cardboard template ready to make out of aluminium.....
Re-made out of aluminium.....
Doing the folds.....
All folds done.....
Base template and scoop section combined.....
I used the rubber surround from one of the undertrays I bought that didn't fit the car.....
Finished making, trying it on the car.....
I was going to paint it but still haven't got round to it yet. I kinda like the 'mirror' side of the ally you can see from the outside.....
Am also gonna add another 'fin' at some point like the zerosports ones you can get, just to distribute the air better rather than it all just piling to the back. So yeah that was probably a really kift and long-winded way of making one, but I thought I'd share it anyway incase it's any use
