how long will a set of disks last??

Seriously though, I did about 8K on my original pads/discs. Was told at the 7.5K service that the discs were cracked (warranty job) and the pads needed replacing
Now the car has nearly 40K on the clock and it's still on the 2nd pair of pads and discs - no trackdays though, but I'm last of the late breakers, especially if the dust on my alloys are anything to go by.
