Lack of boost/restrictor pill question
Hi guys. I've recently replaced the gauges in my V5 with Defis and somehow I've lost some boost.
I used to get 2 bar holding, now it's peaking at 1.5b and holding 1b. I've had a look around the engine bay and everything I touched, nothing seems loose or anything.
I searched and found a few threads on restrictor pills so had a look around and noticed a little brass thing in the Tpiece (that was on the car with the old gauges) shown here:
And removed it looks like this:
Now, common sense tells me that this merely prevents large flow surges reaching the gauge/sensor and was provided with the original gauge kit and that I hadn't noticed it before. I'm just unsure now and scratching my head
The only other thing I thought it could be is the boost solenoid. Do they just completely stop working in one go?
I did quickly change back to the old gauges and they read the same as the Defis so that rules dodgy gauges out...
Thanks for reading through my ramblings guys, I'd love to get to the bottom of this
Paul.
