Default Turbo upgrade for Type R ??

Hi all,
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction, i'm looking at replacing the Turbo on my V3 STI mainly to reduce lag and push a little more power.
I'm currently running the standard vf23 pretty much maxed out at 339hp at 1.5bar with FMIC and Full decat. It's a 16 year old turbo so i'm thinking there must be a newer faster spooling Turbo to replace it with.
I'm not after spending loads on a new one, i'd be happy with a good low mileage or recon item. I notice the newer STI Turbo is a common upgrade but don't know which one would suit my car best or is there anything better out there.
Any help appreciated

It's a USA site but has quite a comprehensive list on turbochargers.SJ.

Thanks for that. It's nice to see the differences between the Turbos but very rough max power output figures.
It would be nice to know which one would suit my car and my needs. Has anyone got firsthand experience on upgrading their turbo on an early STI?

360bhp would be nice and some more torque, don't want to push it too far. STI8 crank,Race bearings rmc oil pump should help. I know it's on the limits but i'v been running 340 for a couple of years with no problems, if it goes it goes i'v been looking for an excuse to get some forged goodies and maybe 6 speed.

do u really want to risk your engine and shell out on a turbo and remap for an extra 20 odd bhp from what you have now? might be better to save your cash towards forging and a box and a 400bhp + turbo. just a thought

^ I see your point and is something I have thought about. I'v been pushing the limits for a couple of years, maybe i'v gained to much faith in it but I feel it can take a tiny bit more.
I'm mainly after a quiker spool and power delivery for better drivability any extra power would be nice but not essential at this point.
I drove a 06 STI PPP recently and the lag difference was very noticeable compared to mine, just after something similar really. Maybe I should just get a Turbo off one of them or off the 2.5? These must be easily available at a good price.
