Not starting/cutting out??
Hi i was wandering if anyone could help me,
My turbo 2000 starts fine and drives fine then if i pull up and turn it off for a couple of minutes, it struggles to start again, then another instance i was waiting at a set of lights and it cut out completely.
Its not running hotter than usual and still pulling fine
Its only happened since the mot which it passed with flying colours and no advisories
Any advice would be REALLY HELPFUL

Iv tested the battery/idle and both are coming back as fine,
Its still boosting fine aswell,
Could someone at the mot place of changed the ratio of petrol/air mix to get it through the emmisions test and not told me?
It has been remapped so could be running rich/poor now

There was a problem with the Sigma alarms fitted as standard to 1999 Imprezas.
One of the immobiliser circuits would randomly activate and power off the fuel pump.
I would also check the connections on the fuel pump as they tend to corrode.
Pump is located under the rear seat.
It happened to me a couple of times, car driving fine, but would suddenly cut out. I rewired the supply to the fuel pump and four years later never had another problem.
Ideally you should replace the Sigma unit, but I had other immobilisers installed so didn't bother.
It's a very good chance that is your problem.
Best of luck.

I had a similar fault with my last WRX which was a 95 jdm wrx. The car would start fine when cold, but would struggle when warmed up and cut out when sitting in traffic or at traffic lights.. Turned out to be the cam sensor on the passenger side head breaking down when it got hot.
