Default Wheel spacers?

Afternoon all!

I have a 2005 blob wrx with the standard 17 inch wheels.

I like the idea of some spacers to push the wheels out to fill the arch, wider stance etc but couple questions.....

1st is am I likely to damage the car. My sisters fiancé had fitted wider alloys to his 206 work hog and eventually got a knocking back end that they put down to the load the wider wheels were putting on it..... Likely story? Wider stance likely to have a similar effect?

2nd is how safe are they?

3rd who is best value to buy them from?

Thanks! Adam

I had some 20mm spacers fitted with my standard 17s. I had the ones that bolt to the hub and the spacer has studs which the wheels bolt to if that makes sense ...

I think 20mm is the max you should run really.

They apparently put more stress in the wheel bearings, which will obviously wear quicker ...

They made the steering really heavy and te car felt ****e !

They scrubbed slightly coming off speed bumps ...

I took mine off and bought different wheels with a better offset / width

:-)
