Default What code reader do I need?

Hi I need a bit of advise I've got a impreza uk 2000 year 1999 my engine check light come on now again I want to check if there's any fault codes that might explain why. I just need to know what type of code reader I need a obd2 or just obd? And it would be a great help if there is a code reader that can be recommended

Thanks Rob

I think all classics just use a plug under the dash to flash the management light & show codes.
Mine does but its earlier than yours.. search on here or google classic impreza fault code reading.
Pretty easy, shouldn't take too long.

Yes it will. The diagnostics plug is for SSM (Subaru Select Monitor) only as OBDII didn't arrive in the UK 'til MY01
