Default PTFE or Teflon hoses?

Righty,

I am running a 20% meth mix on my drag map, and the smell inside the cabin is insane, It makes your eyes water first thing in the morning lol

now the swirl pot and 044 pump are all done in black rubber hoses, and eventually these will degrade with the meths sitting in them.

Can I use PTFE hoses or will only teflon be acceptable?

Ive read that using PTFE/Teflon will also combat the smell inside the cabin?

Oh, well that solves that then. So why are PTFE hoses half the price of the Teflon ones?

Me thinks someone is trying to rob me! haha!

Now where is the best place for fittings etc? So i just go for hose clamps or the aeroquip style?

Hose clamps will work ok. But I managed to find a set of hoses pre fitted with the aeroquip style fittings

Try a local hydraulic hose company they can normally make them to order

for example (quick google )
http://www.hydraquip.co.uk/

I have my own hydraulic hose crimper, so can do it myself just not sure where the best place for fittings etc is.

Is the ebay ptfe lined SS hose any good?

I would be looking at a reputable company with mega feed back
Fuel lines are a critical component IMO

demon tweeks do connections etc

Good idea to contact a company making hoses direct.

There is a lot of difference and some will NOT stand up to certain chemicals.

I wouldn't want my cabin full of a meths/fuel mix......

Yes i understand the risks, I will make sure it is rated for methanol

Aeroquip fittings will these take methanol?

make sure you match fittings to hose and vice-versa as there can be variations in nominal sizing between companies............

we would generally use/supply Goodridge or Earls as they consistently supply high quality components and offer a range of hoses to suit various specific applications (bulk deals available also)

Alyn, myself and a friend might be ordering a whole load of stuff, 8mm ptfe hoses and fitting for 2 swirl pot systems (1 scooby 1 caterham) and some to do the brakes with too.

So when i have a list of fittings and pipe we both need i shall get in touch.

Nothing is ever as simple as it seems apparently!

Did you look at my link to my old sierra mate?
i ran all ptfe s/s braided lines inside that. all fittings and hose supplied from pirtek, they have a fair few outlets around the country and i know there is one in portsmouth.

iirc is cost something like £350-380 for my fuel system.

be warned tho, as some fittings even tho the hose is the same size internally, the fittings can be a bit smaller internal dia than the likes of goodridge.

for the brake lines i used all -3 goodridge fittings from merlin motorsport, again ran inside the car.

not a sniff of petrol. till it was rear ended lol

Haha, i read some of it mate but ran out of time and havent had chance to pick it up since!

Yes I'll be looking at running it internally and then putting a plumbed in fire extinguisher as i don't fancy been in it if it catches fire!
