hydraulic handbrake help- it wont lock up!
I may be in the wrong place here but...
Have started rallying my scooby on tarmac, and I need to use a hydraulic handbrake for the next event.
so its all up and fitted- .625 cylinder, standard abs and brake bias removed, after market bias valve fitted , and the car is a gc8 running newage brembos.
But it just wont lock up the rears! Foot and hand brake have good feel and brakes are all fine bar that!
Put 2l of fluid through and all bubbles have gone!
Any suggestions? Rally is next friday lol, and my first big one!

Do you have the DCCD centre diff , if not then this will not be helping , if you have a fixed centre diff if you try and lock the rear wheels it will want to lock the fronts as well , so you will eventually burn the centre diff out.
When I rallied an Impreza , it had the DCCD electric centre diff , and a neetronics diff controller that had a micro switch on the hydraulic handbrake and it would fully open the centre diff when the handbrake was operated , it worked very well.
This is the only way you will get it to work properly
Cheers Ian
