Default Key help

Done a search but as of yet not found the right answer.

Just got my spare key out for my Hawk WRX, pushed the button and nothing happened.

The actual key is cut correctly and opens door and fits ignition, however I guess the key is not matched to the car.

The battery is good in it.

The Kay look brand new so i guess the PO got it and never linked it to the car.

My searches show that i have to do some typing in on the key pad using a 4 digit code. the key has a metal tag which has a 5 digit number

how do i programme the key to the car please.

cheers
Paul

It means that maybe just the battery is dead. Try replacing before panicing.
If still doesn't work, it means the fob needs re syncing to the alarm. Very simple job!!

arm and disarm the system with a remaining working fob, enter into the keypad the following sequence.

*17856*91*2# and press the button on both keys to be programmed, the alarm will chirp after each key as been pressed

This code worked a treat on my 2005 sti, battery was dead on my key fob and when new battery was installed, £4 out of halfords, the button did not operate the doors or immobilizer!!

put code in and pressed button, now sorted

Just done this; As I'd left the wife's key without a battery for a week!

Scoobynet: If at first you don't succeed, try searching with a different phrase!!

BTW, anyone know if you can get the alarm to tell you it's code? I've never had the code to my 2nd scooby and live in fear of a flat key and no code...

Don't think you can find out the current code but you can reset it to another code! I can't for the life of me remember how to do it though! Similar to the one below by typing in various numbers and buttons etc! I did it to my car when I bought it. Found out how to do it by searching on here so the info is there somewhere!
