Default give me some head info......

i have a pair of newage (blob wrx) heads sitting around, they made 354bhp on my wrx when mapped so i know they are good

can i add cams to them from a different model along with a port/polish and some one piece valves or is it just a waste of money

im still not 100% set on going avcs yet so just exploring other options before i make my mind up

any advice please

cheers

Hi there

Personally I would run AVCS and would just check the heads on the cracks around the spark plugs(there usually cracks) and second bit check around valves,if there are not cracked(if yes you will need new valve seats)

If you want to go extra long mile, then I would add better valves(Supertech),springs(Kelford) and depends on boost better retainers(Supertech) and cams(depends on budget, but Kelford are best for money and if its not the budget, have and search for JDM V7-V8 cams,I think Jap Performance Parts have them in stock for around £200)

hi jura

i will be using brian crower 1 piece valves and retainers, pretty much a good strip down and rebuild with a better spec but not going to mad.can the cracks be repaired?

Not sure if I would use BC valves,as many others over here and other forums people use only Supertech, agree they're little bit expensive

Cracks depends how they're deep etc. Some companies doing this, but effort and cost is not worth it to do so

All depends what you are trying to run, standard v3 sti heads will work fine for 500hp...

Mine has no head work what so ever, only issue is a torque drop off from about 5.5k when you go over the limit of the profile of the cam, and needing a slightly lower rev limit, mine is about 7.2k.

When i go for 600+ I will do the heads, but until then i dont see the point so much

Avcs will make a good difference not just to spool but will improve torque, this is my old car without the AVCS working

This with Avcs working and 20% meth (which will have a slight affect on spool also)

I will be going AVCS in future, or v3 sti with solid shims etc.

What rev limit would i see with AVCS heads?

And what type of shims do they use?
