what alternator voltage is correct

Default what alternator voltage is correct

Does anybody know what exactly is the voltage an alternater should be putting out on a jap wrx bugeye. Mine is reading 14.5 and I was thinking this is a small bit high?

Mine only pumps out 12.68 until I turn the headlights on then pushes out 14.40v according to my (Turbo timer) sorry I know but it was fitted when I got the car

14v or thereabouts is fine.

So-called "smart" alternator fitted to some Scoobs, only produces charge when needed.

Cool thanks for the help guys! Was a bit worried that it was over charging and it was going to mess up my ecu

Unfortunately it works agaist you too.....it won't be charging the battery unless you have something switched on.
