No wrap/heatshield on up-pipe, turbo or downpie.
Seems to work OK.
And - no itching

+1

Although, after doing my headers and downpipe in one go, i did feel it was a little itchy. But, not as bad as all the other types of wrap.

Wet it when fitting and wear gloves = no itching.

Make sure it is fully dry before firing it up though.

Not true in the slightest!

wetting fibregalss will only make sure the fibres do not become airborne. it wont stop it itching.

And the DEI stuff, you dont wet before application as per the manufacturers instructions.

My DEI instructions said to "mist" it with a spray bottle.

I didn't use gloves, no itching as far as I can remember - just a cut thumb from my locking wire!

Wet or dry, hardly matters..... wrap it or don't, wont make noticeable difference.

However, i have wrapped everything and have a turbo jacket in situ!

Hhhmmm. Power wise, yeah, you won't suddenly notice, but, I can honestly say I can grab a hold of my downpipe and turbo and that must help bring engine bay temps down.

Completely agree, it is more for heat management than power gains, by keeping the heat in the exhaust you are also increase the velocity of the exhaust gases, which will give some benefit.

But also keeping engine bay temperatures down is a definite plus...

Wearing gloves wont stop itching when using heat wrap? Of course it will.

The instructions I got from my titanium wrap said to wet it before fitting as when it drys it gives a tighter wrap. So I followed this and have had no ill effects.

Gloves only protect your hands and trust me you will be getting it everywhere not just your hands. It will help, but it wont stop you itching, fibres are very sharp and will get through clothes and gloves, and wetting fibreglass does not stop it from itching you. It justs tops the fibres becoming airborne.

As said, most titanium wrap doesnt need wetting, and i wrapped my whole manifold with it dry and only had very slight itching, but that was after doing 100ft of it! (no gloves either) and as per manufacturers instructions it specifically stated not to wet it.

Go with the manufacturers instructions roy, thats what they are there for.

And if using a fibreglass based wrap, you will need to wet it, and also seal it with a silicone spray
