If I'm fitting a surge tank (under bonnet) with a 30 micron filter between the surge tank and the Bosch fuel pump do I do away with the standard fuel filter? Or is best to leave it in place?

 

Depends on the set up you want you could do away with it so long as you have a filter in line before the fuel rails .

 

Also depends on the size of the filter.

I have an engine bay swirl pot, feeding a bosch044 through an mocal large in line filter. Did away with the standard filter.

 

Will a 30 micron be ok just on its own, so basically standard lines to surge tank then out from surge tank through the filter then through the Bosch pump then on to the rails?

 

the micron value denotes the tightness of the mesh inside, but says nowt about how big it is.

How big is it?

900l/hr .... should be fine to do away with your OE filter.

A Bosch044 (good enough to support 500bhp+) will only flow about 300l/hr.

Just make sure you put the filter in an accessable place to clean it out every 5k or so.
