JDM 95 WRX - on going upgrade
Afternoon all
I have an Import 95 WRX
I want to increase the performance a bit but not go mad.
It was recommended i get an Apexi AVCR or Profec B boost controller any advice
I have read on here that an ESL daughter board is the way to go any advice
At present it is standard apart from:
Exedy Clutch Kit non organic
3" full de cat system - HKS
HKS Superflow induction kit
HKS SSQV BOV
Planned parts to upgarde
standard slant intercooler probably with STI TMIC
brakes ebc grooved discs and red stuff pads
Standard Fuel pump Walbro 255ltr
Suspension Uprated springs
Parts been retained
TD04 turbo
Z4 ECU
Questions
Is it worth uprating the springs? if so, What springs should I fit?
I dont want to firm it up too much more than it is but a bit wont hurt.
Brakes ebc grooved discs and red stuff pads - am i on the right path, i dont think i can afford the upgrade to the 4 pot front 2 pot rear....
TMIC i have heard some recon FMIC is the way to go but i thought this was if you planned to go big power.... it seems a lot of effort and work for what i want to do.
Ive been offered an STI V3-V4 TMIC for £50, will it be much better than what i have?
Thank you in advance for any info, assistance etc

I had similar thoughts a year ago when I picked up my V2.
I would go for ESL, maybe some bigger injectors. Also replace the slanty intercooler, its no good! Front mount or a decent top mount will work better.
The td04 will run out of puff with much more the 300hp.
The older Td05 from the earlier models will give you 350hp for a cheap upgrade.
But ESL, Injectors and pump and intercooler will be a big help!
Couldn't recommend ESL highly enough!

Thanks for the reply mate
I have been reading a lot of reviews regarding the ESL, this will be on the list for the new year.
I have read that having a profec B or AVCR controller helps with the mapping process and from the general feeling on here i am leaning more towards the AVCR now...
Will definitely be doing something about the TMIC, not sure about going FMIC, but i have found a V3/4 STI version TMIC but from what i have read i should perhaps look more towards a newage WRX IC.
Im going to double check which turbo i have actually, hopefully it is the TD05
but if it isnt, thanks for the heads up on that one
are the injectors a straight swap or do i need to do the fuel rail aswell.
Cheers

I think you will find with ESL, you won't need a Profec B or AVCR.
I use ESl to control boost and everything else you will need. You can have two maps too. i have one map for low boost and lower Rev limit. and one full on map with high boost etc.
Or get some phase 2 injectors and adaptors to make them fit the stock rail.

ah ok nice one, i think its having the ability to adjust the boost on the move or something like that anyway, to be honest having an extra toy in the car that looks good is a winner for me LOL
having two maps is certainly tempting though,
thanks again.
