Default any one hazzard a guess at whats wrong with my car??

Just gave car a little welly in 2nd gear, and noticed sort of a cog type lock/grind sound, thought crap ive just stripped 2nd gear.
Still selects and drives in all gears well still drives in 2nd and 3rd aswell as 1st and reverse.

Car seems to sort of choke struggle to drive if driving along in 1st or 2nd at like 20mph (2nd) , almost died completely at one point (dash lights came on) but shot straight back into life.

Seems to idle fine from what I can tell, cant see anything leaking underneath.

Only had the car a month and looks as if its died already, **** take really considering ive only put my foot down a handful of times. Looks as if I could be leaving the fold sooner than I hoped, as im guessing worst case cambelts slipped?

I would have thought if the cambelt had jumped a tooth it wouldn't idle very well and would perhaps sound like the engine is mis-firing

unsure, going to pop to chevron, and then call RAC to get it towed there, will be splitting for parts if engines in need of a rebuild, have such the worst luck with cars its untrue
