dump valve good or not?
hi,
are there any benefits to having dump valve on a uk turbo2000? I know there's the obvious noise but does it improve the car in anyway?
my car will be standard when I get it, only plans for the moment is to fit a stainless exhaust.
thanks

Can't wait forever for the usual dump valve thread suspects to turn up so I will summarise:
Vent to air loud noise chav valves bad.
Standard Subaru re-circulating valve good.
Generally, not advised due to it's location in the Subaru system. A vent to air (VTA) DV will make the car run (slightly) rich, which COULD cause bore wash, ring damage, block damage, engine & world failure. Although no evidence to support a single engine failure to a VTA dump valve people say it's not a good idea.
Std valve holds boost very well so always advised to stay with this.

At the end of the day i have one fitted, have been planning to remove it, but there is apart of me that likes it
Out of all the worst things you can do to your impreza in my book DV an't it, as there is arguments for them aswell
People say they can cause damage this could be correct, but i'd say things like not changing your oil regular would be worst and i bet there's alot of Impreza owners that don't

For the record I still quite like them and have an HKS SSQV fitted to my 06 wrx. Car was mapped with it on and fuel corrected so runs perfect.
I'm still 17 years old at heart and 5% chav, so it's allowed!
At the end of the day it's all personal choice and have your car the way YOU want it (So long as its not causing damage or danger to yourself or others).
Good to see your asking these questions. Keep it up!!!

Thank the scooby god for that
Looks like we have saved another newby from going down the chav route
By seeing sense I propose your total post points are doubled which willl take you nearer to the generally safe 100 region so you won't be riddaculed
I'm sure you did a search over the last ten years in dump valve threads and have seen sense
Well done newby

For me the EVO and Scoob should be lairy and stand out. Blue paint, Gold wheels with Pink Stickers sets the standard.
Get an adjustable VTA like mine and make both noises! ..at the same time!

In the good old days it used to make 4/5 pages with lots of good old banter
Not anymore as we don't care anymore about saving the newbys
Better there is less scoobies on the roads and eBay becomes the new garage and scooby swap shop excellent technical Dept will help blow up a few more of them
Then just the real enthusuists will have them
