Sorry if this has been posted before, i've searched but been unable to find a definitive answer.

My classic shape Impreza sport has developed a rattle from the heat shield above the second catalytic converter, due to it rusting round the front 2 bolts. Will it be safe to remove this or could it cause problems? I've removed the manifold ones without issue but this one seems more important.
