Bottom End Issues

Bottom End Issues
I've acquired a 99 plate uk turbo 2000 that had £2k spent on it having the head gasket and cam belt ect ect done and then a few hundred Miles later the bottom end went.
Is this a big job and worth even repairing ?
If I should repair then am I to be concerned about why it went ?
Are the bottom ends easily repaired leaving the engine in or does it need to be taken out ?
I really hope after all the money that's gone into it that it doesn't have to be scraped

It is engine out and full strip down as you need to split the block in half. It sounds like the car suffered HG failure allowing water into the oil and wrecking the bottom end. As I understand from reading on here a lot of reputable tuners recommend a bottom end rebuild if you have HG failure due to this problem. Also a lot of the labour is already done by getting in a position to replace just the gaskets.

You need to split the block mate, engine out job, will need to have the heads off and cambelt removed again, shame they didnt have bottom end work done at the same
Time, it's not a cheap fix in terms of labour, if you remove the engine and strip it down its not going to cost the earth,
