Default central locking problem

2002 WRX offside passenger door central locking won't open with remote. everything else ok. open faulty door with button from inside and it opens and closes ok, relock with remote and it remains unlocked and able to be opened from outside (alarm still goes off ok). If left unlocked it relocks when ignition is turned on. Now it's an MOT fail as door can't be opened in the event of an accident if the ignition is on. Please help, it's driving me mad. Have replaced actuator with second hand one same result.

Default central locking problem

Thanks for the reply imprezaworks. I thought that and got a replacement lock mechanism including the actuator/solenoid but it is still the same. Am I correct in thinking the rear door actuator is a slave unit driven by the drivers door master unit? It only has two wires. When you have the ignition on it locks itself and if you try to unlock it with the door handle button it keeps keeps locking. Surely it shouldn't have a permanent 12v supply on it when ignition is on? I have started to check the wiring, one of the wires obviously works as it has 12v on it (not sure if it should have 12v there all the time the ignition is on), not sure what the other wire is. Is it a neutral/earth or does it pulse voltage to operate the lock/unlock mechanism?

Mmm not sure mate. Might be an idea to pop it to a nice auto electrician?

Cheers for that, think I may have to. I just got a wiring diagram to look at. not sure if replacement second hand actuator works right so will try one from another door that I know works. If no joy I will have to bite the bullet and let an expert have a look. Thanks.
