Default How much should it cost?

How much should I expect to pay for a ej20 engine rebuilt, I'm pretty sure it's over boosted and allowed the head to weep, so what should I expect to pay for both head gaskets, and bottom end rebuilt (play safe) its a uk phase 2 engine.

Guy who built my 04wrx engine was charging just under a grand for complete rebuild to standard spec. I payed about £1700 but everything was uprated, forged pistons, stronger con rods etc. Block transform to semi closed instead of open deck. Valves reseated, crank drilled n ground, race bearings fitted. Came back fully assembled including inlet manifold, turbo, downpipe n headers.new oil cooler, oil pump, water pump,rollers/tensioners,timing belt.

Ashley at wilkes engines.I couldnt recommend or give anyone more praise than him. I'll put you on to him if you dont find him online. He was gonna build me an engine capable of handling about 400bhp but I told him I want to run power around that mark and want more leeway with reliability,so off he went back to drawing board and sorced all the better forged uprated bits etc and gaurentees me I could have 500bhp if I wanted now

He's prices are excellent,I rang a company in lakeside/essex and they wanted 3k just for standard rebuild. I can't understand why second hand engines go for so much when there is guys like ashley at wilkes engines building them cheaper, with warranty..
