0.5 bar of boost 97 uk2000 advice needed
Ok so just wondering is this normal or under boosting??
Things I have checked is faukt codes via black plugs just continual long flashes which if I'm right means clean
Also done the green connector engine cycle which the boost solenoid was tick tick tick and fan cycled.
So I presume that's all ok any other things I need to check that's pretty simple or can be explained easily enough many thanks will.
PS have heard about a pill or something wondering if that's mossing but not sure what I'm looking for as previous owner said he has changed all the vacuum hoses. Possibly threw it away or pit a pipe on wrong?? Maybe

0.5 bar is what you get if it's purely the wastegate actuator controlling the boost. It could be be that the ECU has gone into limp home mode but you've checked the codes so I'd start looking at the boost control solenoid and associated pipework.
When mine did this it was after I'd had it main dealer serviced and asked them to look at an occasional overboost / fuel cut issue. Some numpty mechanic had "fixed" it by blocking off the bleed pipe from the solenoid with a screw

Yeah all I can think is the guy has thrown away the rest or pill or something when changing the pipes. But not sire what I'm looking for but going to clean the solenoid with carb cleaner. And yeah just continual long flashed I heard means no faults so seems good I can't hear any obvious hisses of leaks or anytging.
Another tying I'm wondering is if he has mixed a couple of pipes round

Can you confirm how your measuring the boost? I assume this is via a boost gauge? What gauge is it? How does the car feel? I think they should sit at around 0.9 bar stock, so at 0.5 it should feel pretty sluggish, does this correspond to how the car drives?

It doesn't feel as though its missing or anything like that seems to pull right the way through and holds the 0.5 bar but yeah just doesn't seem as quick as it should sluggish to pick up no massive kick as I recall from friends that had them previously

Please for the love of god post the answer if you find out, mine is doing exactly the same and I can't figure out what's wrong.
Have been advised it's possibly a faulty lambda sensor but I'm not so sure

Cleaned the maf sensor and all was well again.

I've replaced my maff for another one that works fine and it's made no difference, it's Sod's law that it's something stupid but wow the effect it has had is incredible ! Drives like a 1.2 corsa in power

when I first got my wagon it was under boosting, down at 7psi or so IIRC, this was due to there being no restrictor pill in the little pipe from compressor housing.. or could have been the one that Ts to the boost control solenoid, can't remember sorry! Anyways, moral of the story is £2, a bit of hose and I dyno'ed an extra 25bhp! worth a check :-)

My thoughts exactly lol researched to find out the pill could be possible but have no idea where it is or what it looks like plenty of story's but without pics I'm clueless
Another possiblilty I heard was resetting the ECU done this twice. And another being the dv but mine seems to operating fine but will delve into that if all turns out well with the solenoid and pill when in figure those out

Got this pic which may help but if you have a 3 way boost solenoid the pill needs to go in the hose that fits on the bottom outlet going between the solenoid and the pipe just behind the maff

I've just made one using halfords single bullet connectors that have a 2mm hole through them but if you need smaller for example 0.8mm then you can use a mig welder tip also available in halfords sold as a multipack for pennies

Don't suppose anyone can help me locate it on a 2 way solenoid and how is it suppose to be in the pipe just pushed into the pipe or actually put through the pipe if that makes sense

There's a resrictor pill on ebay for subaru, its 1mm internal bore.it says can increase or decrease boost pressure depending on originals size.so im guessing they are different sizes depending what turbo or boost pressure you want. On a 2port solenoid the pill goes in the small hose that is connected to turbo compressor housing before the t-piece that goes to solenoid & actuator. Alternatively you could fit a manual bleed valve (only a few quid) that goes in the same pipe as the pill but pill wouldn't be needed then.you would have to replace hose for one a bit longer so you can join this.you can set boost how you want then
