bit of gunk in expansion bottle
a my00 rad has gone recently, but noticed gunk in the right hand side expansion bottle (n/s).
gunk with little black bits in. could it be some sort of rad sealer as the rad that came out was wrecked and ready to blow.

ye could be. um the car didnt over heat though so just not sure.
didnt the my00 have a head mod ie they are known for being not so known for hg failure.
we have an air lock in it now which we are trying to sort from reading good threads on here.
worst case the black bits could be breaking down hg??

Mine didn't overheat before the HG went. (98 UK car). It never blew hot through the heaters, but it was summer......
There is no known way to bleed the Impreza cooling system. You need to drain and refill properly...a search on here will find many posts by me explaining how, or ask again.
The black could be bits of hose.
GET A SNIFF TEST DONE before spending any more money.
