Default What is a esl daughterboard?

Hi. Iv just been reading through a thread and it mentions that they recommend a esl daughterboard and get it mapped? What is it exactly? I have a v5 type r with..
Fmic
3"exhaust (turbo back)
Hks BOV (going back to standard)
Aluminium cone filter
And it's been mapped by andy Carr.

So I'm guessing it's around 320ish.

Will one of these esl daughterboards make a difference?

It wont give you any more power if thats what you`re asking, Your ECU will have a custom open source map and is better than an ESL board

What do you mean when you say a mappable ECU won't give you any power?

In relation to the OP`s original question, His is already mapped so mapping it again wont make any more power if its at its limit already, If it was a factory map then yes it would give you more power but it isn`t

Now if he was talking about changing to a Syvecs then yes it would probably make a little bit more power with the mods it has as that ecu is in a different league compared to most but again he was referring to a ESL board which is incompatible anyway.
