Default Injector issues when reverting to standard, my97 classic

Hi guys im converting my Scooby back to standard with good parts iv got laying about, well I had 440cc yellow top injectors think there phase 1's, now iv got some 380cc grey top's iv used out a v1 classic, now when trying to start my car after fitting its trying but never gets there.

Iv charged the battery untold times!!!, now my questions are fuel pressure regulator does that need changing to v1, also im running a 255 pump that will be changed to standard aswell, does that need changing first?? or are they just a real pig to start after injector change? cheers in advance Mark.

Check your fuel pressure probably a seal nipped when changing them over. IIRC if its a UK car it should probably have yellows in it for that year what version is it.

I will chck maf later, been a blimming busy day, was looking into it and theres mixed views, a lot say 380cc for upto late 1998 others say 1998 is fine all together its 1999 to 2000 they changed?, but my ecu if I search it on ebay lists it as 1997 to 1998 so guessing 380cc.

I've always believed that up to 98 was 380cc, didn't they change over to 440cc on the facelift update, i.e when they changed to 4 pots etc? Are the seals all good on the 380s? Do you know these are all good as in was the V1 running fine when they were taken off?

Hi yeah car was a perfectly fine running v1 just was too rotton so broke it up, I have been reading the same and have looked at a few uk's with my engine with coil pack in centre (v3/4 design) and they was 380cc injectors, to me the 440's over fuel it!!, but iv tonight taken out the walbro 255 fuel pump and replaced with standard, gonna change fuel regulator tomorrow, and seals are all good matey iv got a few spares, piles of stuff tbh. Just baffled, I read codes as cant even get it idling. I checked the pack tonight and im getting a good solid spark so know its no that, its overfueling that bad its just dripping out the gasket on the exhaust manifold. unkown to what else it can be tbh im running out of idea's and interest real fast, idea's much much appreciated.

Tomorrow is swap out the 440's and try the 380's again, swap out the plugs with another used set iv got from the v1 heads, let the engine breath a while with no plugs in the heads, check the leads etc anything else worth checking?, tomorrow is the cars last chance then it be sadly another classic for parts.

Ok some news the car is running on the 380cc injectors doesn't smell rich like the 440's, but still yes ill repeat still having issues, now the car is running with a slight missfire and hessitent when warm on idle fine before choke is on, iv tried changing the idle valve and throttle body as it showed a code 24 its improved but still there I cleaned the plugs so cant see that being the problem, leads are abit soddy?its showing a code 12 aswell?
