before i waste my money, should i bother with the mods and map tweak?
Hi everyone. Hope your all good!
Im in need of a little advice, ive had these mods in mind for a while and getting to the point where ive got cash and time to do it. but after reading countless posts im not sure if its worth it and if the further mods will even be that noticeable.
ok heres my current spec.
my00 uk turbo
td05 16g
v6 sti top mount
forge actuator
cosworth panel filter
3" exhaust with middle silencer/cat
3" d/pipe
mapped with ecutek ecu still on 2 port boost solenoid.
has made 325bhp 280 tq
ok i have in mind these things.
ive got a 3" straight through center section rather than the center silencer.
i have got ready to go on rcm/gt spec headers unequal lenth ventured up pipe.
got to get a new age sti top mount...
then a map tweak to get the best out of it and so its safe.
what do you reckon??.. is it worth doing these mods and spending the money to get it fitted then mapped. or should i leave it lol? would i gain much, less responsive, more responsive etc. what are your experiences addidng on these additional parts? help would be great. thanks, aaron.

See this is where im swaying in my decision. So you think the headers and a new age intercooler aren't worth fitting? Instead ud go for a front mount?
see most people have led me to belive that front mounts are overkill on cars my spec as a new age top mount will support upto 400hp fine.
and the Harvey up pipe? To replace my ventured up pipe how will it differ?
thanks

Found this yesterday after finding a 500bhp classic.
Just a reminder, but intercoolers are about charge temperature and nothing else. Bear in mind the stock ECU doesn't even refer to it. You COULD run 600 bhp through a top mount, but I'd consider the amount of boosted air, and the likely charge temp of such air, might be too much for the top mounted position to be adequate.
We sort of had a rule of thumb in our head that 400 bhp is a good guide for the limits of a large STi top mount. Having said that, 450 bhp could well be ok, depending on exactly what you're doing with it.
EG
Track use. Front mount.
Hard driving on "B" roads, constantly on and off boost. Front mount.
Road use, pootling along with everybody else, occasional fast overtake or a blast for a bit of fun. Top mount probably fine, large one like John's even more so.

Headers not required with the 16g, remap not required with change of top mount intercooler
Oh, what boost you running?

See i have read the headers are overkill too lol and more suited to striker engines and 2.5 lumps. Its boosting 20psi. So you reckon just keep things simple new age topmount and straight rough rather then the mid section silencer.
