Default What will happen?

I've got a de-cat up and down pipe to go on my 05 wrx. What would happen if I got these pot on my car and didn't get it remapped for a few weeks after? What damage could it cause and how would the cat run?
It's just that money is tight and I don't think I can afford to install and re map in the same month.

Also, what other mods could get that will help towards more power within a £150 ish budget. I've already got a green filter on there and a back box. I was thinking perhaps a de-cat Centre pipe?

I'm trying but in all honesty, money burns a hole in my pocket. I'm terrible with it. I know the remap will be at least 350 and Chrissy knows how much it will be too install the parts. I am trying but I am just one of those idiots who can't control my money.

I fitted a decat up-pipe and bigger top mount intercooler and ran them for 3 years without a remap. (yes I was trying to blow the engine)

I never noticed any difference in the running but I did put in octane booster when I visited the strip!

If this place is anything to go by, the engine will blow up into a million pieces, the wheels will fall of you'll have fire coming out the exhaust, even the steering wheel will fall of.
In all honesty yes it probably is better to get the car remapped but like others have said they've done it with no issues at all so go for it mate, what's the worst that could happen

Hi there

Yours engine will not blow to million pieces if you will not map the car at first place

If you will fit those parts on yours WRX I would drive of the boost until you afford to map it

I would suspect you those mods will throw CEL(Check Engine Light) and can cause you will have worse MPG and if you will fit decatted Up pipe this can throw EGT CEL

WRX ECU are more forgiving on the decatted mods, some people run their WRX without the mapping several months and without the problems

If you will fit bigger turbo and bigger injectors then I would recommend get car mapped ASAP,but with those above mods you should be able to run car without the issue, just keep off the boost, until remap

cheers jura, with just mods i listed, which appear to be same as OP asked about, do i need Walbro 255 to make most of remap with JGM? Or not needed until some day i change turbo / injectors? which i doubt i will go that far

It's because I'm not a sheep 3M believing crap like a WRX gearbox is only good for 320bhp and that the fuel pump needs uprating before you fit a panel filter.

It definitely doesn't need it as 50% on here will suggest but it's always good to replace a vital ageing part, especially with one that is future proof if one day you do want more than 300bhp.

Hi Jodie

You don't need bigger fuel pump, standard fuel pump should be OK for this power(270-280bhp),but you will need take to consideration, yours fuel pump is old and if budget allow, then I would add fuel pump, personally I've used HRC fuel pump on our wagon and we are been very happy with this fuel pump and they cost less than genuine Walbro 255LPH

Depends for how much power you are looking, but for 270-280bhp yours current spec will be OK and you don't need bigger injectors and turbo

An almost faultless plan, except I'm not married
