Default Walbro Fuel Pump Install

Just removed my existing fuel pump which for the record is huge in comparison with the new walbro pump and just want to check the best way to swap these over including how to safely terminate the new wires, anyone already done one of these ?

Please feel free to point me in the right direction

I'm ok knowing that Pos is Blue & Green and Neg is Black but what's best to join them especially considering there submerged in a slightly flammable liquid

I'm struggling to see how something so much smaller can be an upgrade lol it's tiny In comparison.

I'm going to have to secure it in place with a cable tie or two and was thinking of using the bt jelly crimps to join the wires but will petrol eat through them ?

Wish I left it as it was now lol

The walbro's are smaller. Thats correct. use the original filter bag on the bottom of the pump and ad youve suggested crimps will be fine

No known problems with over fuelling or any other issues except for the well know tiny filter sock that needs to be got shot of ?

if memory serves from when i fitted one in my old BMW 325i it was much the same procedure. pull out original in tank pump, remove pump from cradle, mount walbro on cradle and connect it up. dont remember if i used the original filter or the walbro one though.. thats been in the car for a couple years now and no issues.

nice to see a pic of the WRX cradle as im intending on fitting a walbro in my WRX at some point.

it wont overfuel as the fuel pressure regulator is still at whatever pressure it was originally at so wont allow for more pressure or, subsequently, over fuelling.

Can't help but wonder if it's totally safe when connecting the new pumps wire to the olds using bullet connectors or similar as the wires are too thick to use jelly crimps, also the fact that the plastic connector that fits to the top of the walbro pump are bare and open is a sign it's safe ?

Knowing my luck I will turn the ignition on and blow the back of the car off !

Even if you managed to get a spark submerged in petrol nothing would happen as it won't burn without oxygen

As long as the connections are tight you will not get sparks.
