Default RCM performance oil filter

Anyone tried this oil filter? I've tried searching for info without much luck. I was wondering if they do what is claimed and actually achieve a 10% reduction in pressure loss compared to the standard part. Or is it a waste of money and best to stick with the black genuine Subaru item?

I couldn't see any data quoted for the pressure drop across the filter. You have to ask how that is achieved, bigger 'holes' in the filter medium perhaps?
Never had a problem with the OEM black filter, and loads of people use them.
Seems like an extra £6 for a bit of fancy packing to me.

They are used on some big power engines as well.

I have one on my car and oil light goes off very quickly even before it fires, but I don't have an oil pressure gauge to prove anything. My engine builder recommended them - he said RCM had tested them on the dyno back to back with standard filters and they provide better oil flow at all temperatures.

If it comes in one of those funky little black boxes its worth the extra. I love those boxes.
