Question Bonnet liner / sound deadening

As the title suggests, I'm looking to remove my bonnet liner as it has become tatty and some of the pins are missing.

Before I do I want to know what does the liner provide other than sound deadening? If I remove it will I meddling with how the engine bay retains heat etc or am I just talking s**t?

I have a 2002 Bugeye WRX

Thanks for any help in advance

I took my one off my 04 sti years ago. No probs since. No increase in noise (with a blitz nur spec you wouldnt notice anyway lol),. And it gives you more metal to polish .

The idea of the pad, I beleive, is that in an event of fire, the clips melt, the pad then drops and smothers the fire. In theory anyway. Lol

Ah I figured as much, I had the bonnet up today and a gust of wind pushed the bonnet catch off and it slammed, all of the clips all popped off and most are now broke
