Default Splitting 1998 ej20 engine

Hi guys,

I've just managed to remove my standard 1998 sti type r engine thanks to peoples help on here! Cheers!!

Now I need to split/strip it to see what damage I've caused inside!!

I was wondering if a few people would be able to give me their own hints/tips/steps of how to do it based on their own experience please, to use as a sort of guide?

I'm intrigued to find out what disaster I'm gona find inside!!!!

Any help or guidance much appreciated!

Thank you

Crack (loosen) all the pulley bolts, crank and cam pulleys before you de tension or remove your cam belt

Two boxes helps for left and right side, freezer bags to keep parts and bolts in well labeled on the out side of the bag. Clean each bucket top with brake cleaner and label the top of it in marker with it's position removed from before removing(same for the valves in each head). Cams are letter marked RH LH intake & exhaust. When you get down to splitting the case itself use a scissor jack at the bell housing end to get the case split easily. Take your time ask before you do if not sure and use youtube some great walkthroughs on their for stripping the boxer engine down. Be careful taking each piston pin out I crafted my own little hooked bar for sliding them out.

PS once you have the piston pins out turn the crank till the pistons at the top then turn the piston 90 degrees, rotate the crank again and it will pop up high enough to pull out the block.Repeat until all 4 are out.
