Default Whine after turbo change - Puzzled!?!

Just over a week ago i got my v3 sti back on the road after a few months out of action.. Running the VF23 all was well no distinctive noises or rattles - Happy days.

Over the weekend i fitted my refurbished turbo (TD05-20g) supplied from JMG Turbos (good friend recommended me), chuffed with its condition and bolted her in minus the restrictor pill (until mapping). I changed the oil feed to a SWRD braided feed at the same time as the previous one was cracked. Started her up with the GT Spec headers and divorced downpipe with apexi power air filter and she ticked over perfectly.

Took her out for a gentle drive as its been a while since driving (biggest smile ever) and once she was a little warmer you could start to hear a faint whine progress which as the rpm's went up it becomes louder with a subtle soft grind at points. When decelerating you can also hear this whine dropping progressively. Stopped and in Neutral i gave her a blip on the throttle and that whine is still present. May i add none of these noises were audiable with the VF23 on.

What could it be?
Thrust bearing possibly (clutch side)
Gearbox....
....Turbo bearings....... Although its a newer turbo

Tranny fluid seems level, power steering makes a noise and always has, she had a full oil change with castrol edge 10w60 and a new oil filter from subaru too.. Stuck for idea's, anybody have a clue what it could be. She boosts fine and drives superbly well its just the whine that putting me off from driving her.... No oil leaks or vacuum leaks, Slight exhaust leak on up pipe but its minor.. Worried something is going to happen...

Any help appreciated

have you tightened your power steering / alternator belt with the adjuster?

if youve just put the turbo on and the turbos making a noise my guess would be the turbo? dodgy bearing perhaps? just because a parts new (or reconditioned) doesnt mean its not at fault

No i havent adjusted by aux belts, Should I?

I cannot ensure its the turbo making the noise, when cold there is no noise at all, only once warmed up.

Did you crank it a good while before starting to oil the turbo?

Did you fully prime the turbo before installing it?

if your power steering is making a noise its either due to a bearing, low power steering fluid or a slack belt. tighten belt and check fluid if that doesnt solve it either need to tighten belt more or have a dodgy bearing

Yes I fully primed the turbo before starting her up. Cranked for about 30 secs.

I'm going to check fluid levels again on the box and power steering.

Well driving home from work today and i can hear slight grinding when turning the wheel right at low speeds. Once home I left her neutral and blipped the throttle with the clutch in and out and the whine was present on both occasions.... While driving however with the clutch down the whine drops out, so it seems it only happens when under load.

Checked my fluid levels last night and it seems I had way under the minimum amount of tyranny fluid and power steering fluid. Off too buy some 75w90 this morning and top her back up. Will keep you updated
