Default 1995 wrx strange lack of power.

Evening all
My car has developed a really strange lack of power, it drives fine if driven gently (poodling to work/off boost etc) and it seems to be driving ok if driven progessivly harder and i slowly build up the speed/boost etc
but if i accelerate hard from standstill or moving in any gear at any speed when the car is on boost it will intermittently but very violently suffer from a harsh lack of power. It only seems to last for a second or two but every time it happened i immediately backed off.
It feels like the car is gona endo and physically throws me forward in my seat.
This might sound stupid but its like the fuel flow or air flow is being stopped dead for a second causing the engine to almost stall then suddenly pick up again!

Iv tested the fuel pump and it seems fine, the turbo seems fine, boost pipes ok, cooler ok but then because it only happens under acceleration i cant test them as it happens.

There are no lights coming on the dash and i dont have any sort of code reader

im beginning to think its an electrical/sensor issue but thats about as far as iv got, could anyone point me in the direction of sensors to test or if anyone has ever had this???

BTW its a 1995 wrx which as far as i know is completely standard apart from exhaust inc de cat.

Any help would be massively massively appreciated

you have just described boost cut/ fuel cut to perfection, your car is overboosting past the ecu's limit poss because of the decat

thanks for the reply

so is there a way to solve this? or is a remap needed?
or could this be a sign of turbo issues?

forgive me if i seem really daft but when you say over boosting is that the same as the turbo stalling?
