MDX321T how much power did yours make?
Hi All,
Iv got an MDX321T on my 2L V3 STI & it made 430BHP on VPower which I think is low for a 450 rated turbo. On Meth it made about 450. The car is very high spec with every mod you can think of. Iv been told these turbos never make the numbers so I'm interested in what others have made on these.
Thanks, Richard.

Seems there are a few that haven't made 450 on VPower. Sure torque is important too as is how it drives but if the turbo is sold for cars aiming for 450 with supporting mods then that is the figure you want to see or near enough. My RCM 400 did 410 on VPower only so I know it's not the car or lack of supporting mods. I'm not just questioning why Iv not got 450 on VPower, but wether anyone else has made the numbers on this turbo on a 2L.

100CC won't make that much differance, but yes they do work better on a 2.5 as do many other turbos. AVCS will help with midrange power to make it feel less laggy but shouldn't reduce the top end, it should make 450 but just not get there as quickly as an AVCS equipped car.

me too. Im thinking of selling it and buying a sc42[/QUOTE]
The 42 may not solve your problems but there are one or two earlier 42s running about 500BHP so it is a very capable turbo & should outspool your MDX. I nearly bought one myself but was convinced by others that the MDX was better.

You'll dig it.
In the meantime, check over the car and rectify anything that needs doing (obviously within your capabilities). As it'll right **** you off if the mapping session has to be aborted due to something that could've 'easily' been sorted out prior to mapping day.

The MD321T was always considered best for 2.35 or 2.5 but the X range was developed for better spool & considered more suitable for a 2L. I'm not disputing that these turbos are best on a bigger engine but if SC42s are hitting between 450 & 500 on 2L engines then what's lacking in the MDX321T?

On V power expect about 25hp off the full figure on the MD (Non Billet) range
Actual real world figures to expect
So a T rated to 450 expect 425
T+ rated to 475 expect about 450
V rated to 500 expect about 475
On billet versions expect more
They are great turbo I run a T+ non billet

people put on a certain spec of turbo and expect it to produce that power, it's very far from being that simple, power can be elusive and hitting on a purple spot can involve a certain amount of luck. I had a H which produced 441hp on my 2.5, after a rebuild I installed a billet T and it produced 421hp, it's now producing 466hp following a change of TMIC, this wasn't predicted, it was just a hunch. If I installed a SC42 or 46 would I gain anything?

On a previous v1 wrx I had the ignition coils failed at 1.3 bar
Took a fortnight to get another slot from mapper.
2 days off work- 1 set of coils ,3 tanks of juice and 2 lots of mapping ,expensive ,probably added £500 to mapping costs.
