B.R.Developments Knocklink Group Buy
For the six weeks commencing this one (30th January) we are offering the Knocklink/sensor combination for the all inclusive price of £120.
The Knocklink is a device that provides a visual indication of the level of activity in the engine cylinders, the knock sensor is bolted to the engine block and acts as a microphone sending a signal to the Knocklink display, the signal is translated into a five led indication showing a sequential increase dependant on knock sensor output.
Assuming the engine is operating correctly, the LED’s will show only background noise which will change in proportion to engine power output. Any abrupt rise in signal level at any time will be translated into a visual flash lighting the largest red LED and is an indication that detonation is occurring.
The OEM ecu has a knock control system which reads the output from the factory knock sensor, when the output exceeds set levels at set frequency it then reacts reducing ignition timing and sometimes adding fuel. However in order to do so the increased signal output must remain present for a pre-determined period, if rpm and load is changing rapidly the ecu will not react simply because it hasn’t recognised the problem. All ecu’s have such a system which varies in its sophistication according to model year, even the current model year ecu’s fail to react to a fast transition. Aftermarket engine management may or may not have a knock control system and it is still prudent to install, if no system exists we consider it essential.
If unusual activity is present the visual display enables the driver to lift off the throttle immediately.
There are many causes for detonation, lean running (caused by cold weather, changes to the car specification, failing maf, failing fuel pump), high charge temperature, failing spark plugs, poor fuel quality to name just a few.
For those vehicles using the oem maf sensor, in particular MY99-00 vehicles, this device will highlight a failing maf by virtue of its increased visual levels. If poor quality fuel gets into the tank the Knocklink will immediately register greater activity.
If you have any specific questions then feel free email me directly as per profile.
Those interested either post that interest in here with a contact email, email us on info@brdevelopments.com or contact us on 0208 3327534, this phone now has a divert service attached to it to ensure calls are taken during office hours, we appreciate that there have been contact difficulties in the recent past.
There is no need to wait for a minimum number to be interested, as mentioned this offer will run for six weeks and we will supply individuals at the above price during that period.
Payment must be made prior to shipment.
The kit is easy to install, we have pictures available to assist if required and for those that wish to incorporate the device into their dash we can advise/suggest opyions that are straightforward to implement.
Thanks for your interest

regardless of mr. Pete Lewis' best protestations, this little gadget is an engine saver in all senses.
B R Developments are also the guys to get them from.
Ive got mine, top stuff.
You could also ask Bob for a Lambdalink while you're there to show the afr, another very useful gadget

Is this price inclusive of VAT and postage? Should hopefully get the order in during the next week or so.
Here is another link to look at a knocklink.

for any one who reads to much into PL's posts and are 50/50 on getting a knocklink
when I had my car remapped for the first time I could make the lights (including red)light up on the knockling at will
after the second remap I couldn't get any lights.. no matter how hard i tried
my car only had 10k miles and was 1 year old ..... With out the link i would never had another remap... im not sure if the orginal pistons would look like a Cheese grater by now or not but i am much happier
well worth the peice of mind when you have thown away a perfectly good warranty

Had a look at where to fit my Knocklink yesterday. when I have had it on the rollers for attention to the mapping, the mapper has bolted it to the side of the inlet manifold. Having looked over my engine I have found a threaded bolt hole near where the engine number is. Will this be suitable or too close to the clutch and gearbox? Thanks for your help Steve

The position you have mentioned is fine, its where I would install one.
