Referbing your Subaru 4 pot calipers?
My father-in-law recently retired from the metal fabrication business after many years in the engineering trade. He still has plenty of contacts so I got him to sort me out some stainless steel components for referbing my Subaru 4 pot calipers. Here are the results:
It wasn't cost effective to just make up one set so got a few sets made up so that I can pass on a quality product to you guys/gals! I have 5 sets of each available for this group buy:
Set of 8 stainless caliper pistons (to fit Subaru 4 pots) - £80
Set of 4 stainless brake pad retaining pins (to fit Subaru 4 pots) - £15
I have also been in touch with a few suppliers and have bought in some seals and other bits needed for the refurb so can offer a full kit for £150 which includes:
8 x Stainless steel caliper pistons
8 x Piston seals
8 x Piston dust covers
8 x Piston dust cover clips
1 x Pack of piston seal lubricant
2 x Stainless steel bleed nipples
2 x Bleed nipple covers
4 x Stainless steel brake pad retaining pins
4 x Stainless steel retaining pin clips
4 x Copper brake line washers
1 x DOT 5.1 high performance brake fluid (l litre)
Postage and packaging via recorded delivery:
£15 for full kit
£9 for pistons
£3 for smaller package (set of pins)
Also just getting some bits together to refurb my rears so could do a kit for those too?
Any questions then please ask.
Dan

These brake pad retaining pins are stainless and wont rust so are a much better long term investment over the originals. They also look much nicer!
Due to the thread of the bolts most places wont stock them. I went to a nut and bolt specialist and it took them a while to hunt some down. They also wont sell you anything less than a box of 100!

So it's £139 for the lot including delivery? Is there chance of a discount if you order everything? It's not much of a saving over some other places who would do the painting as well...

The pistons are already 25% - 30% cheaper than what I can find them anywhere else - Id say thats a very good discount already (take a look at other group buys and the discounts are not usually as good as this!)
I don't have any of the seals/nipples, just stating the prices that I can get hold of them for should you want them too (usually take a few days to get hold of)

I've just sold my 4 pots to a friend and 1 of the pistons is seized and aonther of the seals is a bit tatty...
A kit to do just one caliper is around £85 so to get them both fully refurbed for another £48 is definately worth it. (Price based on this offer plus the seal kit = £133 total).
He could be very interested in this. I've let him know and will get back to you

Well that didnt take long for him to decide, he said to sign him up!
He wants everything, the piston kit with all the bolts and pins and the seal kit.
Everything minus the stainless steel nipples... actually saying that he will probably want them too so yeah EVERYTHING on offer please.
£139?
How are you taking payment?

Still got some of these, just been too busy at work to promote them.
I have bought in some seals and other bits needed for the refurb so can offer as a full kit to save you tracking everything down.
Grab them while you can!

Yep - still got a few of the 4 pot pistons.
I have had a few people enquire about pistons for the 2 pot rears. I recently rebuilt mine and the pistons were in good condition so I didn't think there would be much demand for them? (though my 04wrx has only done 38k) Would anyone else be interested in these? They are likely to be a bit more than the 4 pot pistons due to the smaller quantity but if there is enough interest then I can enquire about this further.

Refurb kit arrived
Hi Dan,
The refurb kit arrived, all present & correct and VERY well packed.
Note to anyone else thinking about getting one, the seal kit supplied is genuine Subaru and the rest of the parts are great quality.
Thanks!
AJS

Got round to fitting mine at the weekend, only prob was removing one of the pistons (and getting the pad retaining pins out) Otherwise everything fitted ok.
Put on some discs & pads from Godspeed and brakes are great now!
Cheers,
AJS
