I am fitting a Blaupunkt MP72 head unit into a MY02 and replacing the standard speakers. I am thinking of the Sony XS-K1730 (front) and XS-F1722 (rear), which are both 16cm
Now i know everyone is going to say fit focals, but i don't really want to spend more than £50 on the front speakers and £35 on the rears, so has anyone got any recommendations?

Sorry mate, don't mean to be patronising but if you get some Focal Access 165A's in the front then you really wont need to replace the rears, they will just gently enhance the sound from the fronts.
Believe me these Focals are worth the money.£130 for a pair.
They have separate tweeters and crossovers.
The best i have EVER heard.
Enjoy.
Paul.

The focal access 165A will fit into the classic. That is what i have got.I would recommend that you have a dealer do the job though as they are quite tricky to fit.The dealer will have to slightly modify the existing housings in the front doors to get them in properly AND the front doors will benefit from some dynamat soundproofing.Trust me,this is the way to go.
Cheers.
Paul.
