Just got an install done in the M3 and although it sounds nice and loud...I want it louder and clearer and I need a new amp to do this I think.

My set up consists:- Pioneer Head unit and 6 disc changer, 6 Inch JL Audio VL Components, JL Audio VL 6X9 on adaptors.

Small Caliber Amp and 12" Sealed JL Audio 12WO Sub.

I am running the front speakers and the 6x9's off the headunit which is fine as they sounds great. The sub is loud but I want it louder so was thinking of a new 2 channel amp, as mine is running at 3/4 load and is not loud enough. Any more and it clips.

Suggestions on a new 2 channel amp please ??

Have a look in the for sale, someone's selling a Genesis Dual mono amp - I'd go for that if you can run to it...

Had a look at that and spoken to the guy...seems a very good amp...but at £250 a bit pricey for me I think...but saying that a possibility...

Anything cheaper like a kicker or something...looking to spend about 150 - 200 tops...

Scared of it getting nicked...

You'll be hard pushed to find a better amp for 250 quid...

Don't worry about it being nicked. If they want it, they'll take anything.

matt,

know what you mean about getting it knicked, but in all honesty you can't spend your life worrying about stuff getting knicked.
If you are sensible with audio (turn the system way down a while before you get home etc) you shouldn't have a problem.
If someone hears a loud system they'll break in without knowing you have a cheaper amp.
I'm not saying this to sell my amp, at the end of the day if it doesn't get sold I'll put the whole lot in the scooby and deafen the fiance, that'll teach her to want more clothes :-)

i just sold a phoenix gold 4 channel QX4150 for a £150. These are wicked amps. It first ran my 6x9s and JL 12W0 when i bought it. Then upgraded to 2 JL 12W0 and it run brilliant. Then went mad and went bigger!!

With that money, you can pick up a nice amp but not from here as there isnt much in the way of ice. Log onto Clickable... and go in the classifieds. You will get some brilliant deals there!

Edited cause i buggered up the link!

12W0 - the slight problem with this sub is that it has an rms (from memory) of about 150w, max 400 ish - or could be lower. thus if you put any more than the rms through it'll start distorting and could blow. I've got a 12W6, rms 300 and max power 600. I think the jl website is slightly lower, but you get my drift. a more powerful amp isn't just the answer.

Thinking about a Rockford 500x amp....4 channel so I was going to bridge 2 channels to the sub and also run the fronts off the amp as well....

Opinions, is this a good amp...240 quid brand spanking seems pretty good to me
