May have been asked and answered before but I wonder what (if any) double din MP3 players are available.

I want to upgrade my head unit and speakers (only modestly) and would like to go for something MP3 based rather than an autochanger but don't want to convert to single din (although you may tell me I have to).

Thoughts on manufacturers, availability, who's best, do they exist. North West UK based for reference.

Nothing official in the UK as yet, but plenty in the states and far east from Kenwood and others.

Expect some next year maybe?

 

Thx, I'm new to this ICE stuff (other than pressing play and listening) are there any incompatbility issues to think about if getting one from the US of A or Far East (language on Far East I guess?).

The problem with US stuff is the frequency steps on FM - they step in 0.2MHz, we step in 0.1 IIRC.

Far east doesn't normally have such a wide range - we use 88->107ish, they use 90->100ish. No doubt someone knows the exact figures and will correct me

Some units claim to allow the frequency stepping to be changed, and we had a thread about this a short while ago. Dunno what the resolution was.

Might be worth sitting tight for a month or so, as this time of year is traditionally when new announcements on a new range for March/April time are made.

Not strictly a double din MP3, a single DIN that does MP3 with the other single DIN filled by a 5 disk changer. It also has US and Euro tuner frequency settings, user configurable in the menu system.

I like it in mine, anyway.

www.bluespot.co.uk is the cheapest for the MP72 and A09 changer that i can find, also is free delivery. I can't make my mind up weather to buy thos head unit or the Alpine CDA7893R with a blanking plate. Blaupunkt has more gizmo's (MCC card) but Alpine do an MP3 boot changer for £169.

 

I second Austen there, bluespot were the cheapest I found.

It's actually come down since I got it; at under £400 all in, IMHO it's awesome value. I think you'd be hard pushed to find a better sounding MP3/changer combo for twice that money.
