Anyone with info on the following head unit? NecVOX DVA-9690
Will it fit in my MY02 WRX as a direct replacement for the standard unit?
Are NECVOX a quality manufacturer? I've never heard of them before.

I found this unit on the following site;
http://www.mobiletoys.co.uk/acatalog/Mobiletoys_This_Week_s_Specials_7.html

Any advice greatly received.

Someone on here has a necvox in their MY01+ - see the TV screens in a scooby. Perhaps they'll be good enough to post an opinion?

Nick.

Bugger me, if that site doesn't look like CarAudioDirect.com, I don't know what does!

Cool

Now I'm now ICE guru but that double DIN TV looks the business - can't find much on the web about it though (reviews etc).

Now then, how much was my bonus this month....not enough but I'm sure the credit card won't mind! ;-)

I'm almost 100% certain that it will fit. You may know the brand name Centurion which Necvox seem to be one in the same. Take a look at centurions site and they use the exact model numbers.
Here is some info.

If you have a double-DIN space, you can make your dash all the more impressive by fitting the DVA-9690 from Centurion. It looks like a TV from the outside, and it can pick up all terrestrial channels to show on its 6.5 inch screen no-problem thanks to the built-in tuner, but the front display also slides down to reveal a disc slot where you can place a CD or DVD.

The unit has a built-in radio, 4 x 45W amp, an output for connection to a DSP unit that will give 5.1-channel Dolby sound, and it's supplied with a remote control.

Cheers
Daz.

Oh and the quality of these are pretty good, I was at my local dealers and they supply necvox, IMO looked better then the Panasonic, pioneer and alpine in dash units.

Just found this
DVA-9690
6.5-inch Wide Screen Monitor / 2 Din AM/FM DVD Player
* 6.5-inch wide screen color display monitor
* Playback disc : CD / VCD / DVD / MP3 & CD-R compatible 12 cm & cm
* Option output : Connection to optional DSP unit for 5.1 channel Dolby Digital & dts sound reproduction
* Operating Voltage : DC 12V-13.5V
* Main Unit Size : W250mm x H82mm x D177mm

If I'm corret with these dimentions it WONT fit 25cm wide is huge, shame it looks the business.
You could check this site for a single din though.

Thumbs up

Thanks to eveyone that has responded.

I called Centurion and their sales rep assured me it would fit a standard Double Din aperature.

Opinion so far is NecVox quality is up there with the best which is good news.

I am trying to see a demo unit before I splash the cash.

Will let you know how I get on.

Cheers

Paul

We fitted one of these in my bosses car lastweek, it was very poor indeed.
We had to file some of the facia plate on the MY02 to get it to open without catching on it, also when playing a standard audio CD the display on says PLAY and no other things such as track/time etc.
And the worst thing was it wrecked 3 DVD's, when we ejected them it held on to it and wouldnt let it go, the only thing to do was pull on it resulting in a long groove in the disks!
On the plus side the quality of the picture is quite good, but thats about it im afraid!

Andy.
