MY98 Headunit Cables
#1
Currently got a Sony multiplay in my MY98 IMpreza Turbo (5 door). About to replace with a Blaupunkt unit (as I work for Bosch and can buy them cheap).
However my question relates to the 2 plugs currently on the end of the wiring harness - are these DIN or ISO plugs ? Does anyone know, or do I defintiely need an adaptor cable ? The Blaupunkt headunit is definitely the double (2x8?) plugs which I think is the ISO connection.
The Blaupunkt literature indicates that I need an adaptor cable but my exact model isn't listed, only the Impreza GL (I assume the same harness?).
Can anyone provided any info on the 1998 Impreza wiring loom ?
Thanks

UK-spec MY98 cars have an ISO connector as standard. MY97 and earlier were not. However, the Sony head unit you have is not the standard fit unit, so it could be you have a different connector wired in there. I guess the best way to be sure would be to check the specs for your head unit to see what connector it uses, or to pull it out of the dash and have a look. I replaced the standard head unit in my UK-spec MY98 Turbo with a Sony unit (CDX-MP30) and that was also ISO, so my guess would be that you've still got an ISO connector in there.

Thanks for that I did have a look already, and the loom does have 2 plugs, then a conversion cable into the back of the Sony. However, I didn't know if the loom was ISO or not.
Thanks again
Thanks again
