Had a single DIN alpine head unit fitted at a Subaru dealer today, they were a bit confused over the speed pulse wire due to my car having PPP ( i'm sure it makes no difference ) after receiving a fax from IM unit was fitted. I didn't get a chance to read the instructions till i got home so was not aware of any problems.
When i try to access the NAV menu it says i can't because the car is moving, I wasn't !! could this be because the speed pulse wire has been connected wrong?? This is a safety feature to stop you being distracted while driving so it would make sense that if the correct wire is not connected it will default as if the car was moving. I am visiting the dealer tomorrow morning to get this sorted ( hopefully ) so can anyone advise on correct connection for a STI7 UK car.

Hi Simon
I also have the Pioneer 7" display with satnav in my STI7. I fitted this myself way back in May last year. I have pulled out the fact sheet that came with the kit. According to this, the correct wire for the speed pulse is the Green/Yellow wire with Silver bands. The PPP was fitted around this obviously.
From memory, this was on the 18 pin connector at the bottom left, as you look at the ECU bloted to the floor pan.
I just spliced into this with one of the cable splitter thingies and it did the job.
So much so, that today whilst on the rolling road at Well Lane Turbo Centre, the system was keeping the Well Lane boys amuzed when the car was doing 130+ mph across fields, houses and straight across the M1. LOL. Was quite funny to see. Of course, it sorted itself out as soon as it was backed out off the RR.
Oh, and FYI, post PPP, car produced 311bhp, and a staggering 310lbs/ft torque, which is very good for WL rollers which predominantly produce lower torque figures. Very happy!!
Give me a shout if you need anymore info. It was a while back when fitted, but can always pull it apart to assist if necessary.
Cheers

Thanks Simon,
Turns out the speed pulse wire was ok but the handbrake sensor wire was not connected, without this the system thinks the car is moving and won't let you access menu's. All now sorted.

Good question. I think it was Car Audio Direct, or something like that. They have a large store in Leicester. Advertise in Max Power and the likes...
I bought Max Power and rang all the different companies advertising quoting price match, and got the whole lot down from (Display, SatNav, AV master, 12CD Changer, and speakers) from £3500 to about £2600.
Just keep bouncing them off each other...
Cheers
