Went to look at a MY98 5 door sports yesterday, the car only appeared to have a radio cassette, but now I have looked at the ad on thye net again the ad says it has a cd player, Is it fitted with a multi disc changer?

Was this a standard fitting?

Forgive me but are you sure it does not have one?

My CD changer was mounted under the ft passenger seat and pretty much hidden from view.

It was not a standard fitment on my MY99 Turbo BTW

Dealer charge serious £££ forht e changer - mine wanted £ 250.00, beat him down to 1/2 that.

May be worth looking for new ICE as a better head and changer could be had for less in some cases.

I had a 98UK and it had a radio cassette only. I had it swapped for a kenwood cd stealth jobby. There was definitely no auto changer on mine.

Could have been added as an extra though.

Thumbs up

The OE r5adio/cassette was described as "CD ready".
In effect, you could buy a 10 disc autochanger from the same manufacturer, (Philips), plug it straight in the back, and the existing head unit would control it.
I didn't bother, I bought a Sony minidisc headunit, and a CD changer to match. I hate cassettes, but love minidiscs, esp since I got a recorder that records straight from the net.

If it doesn't have a multichange and you have pc access buy a mp3 player in place of the excisting r/cassette, no wires to run and 10 albums on a cd
